Trit1tm1.1(KOMP)Vlcg/Trit1tm1.1(KOMP)Vlcg mice exhibit embryonic lethality, with fewer than expected number of embryos at E7.5 and no embryos at E9.5. Though an egg cyclinder is formed, no morphological node or other hallmarks typical of E7.5 are present.
• although normal blastocysts are present in expected Mendelian ratios at E3.5, very few homozygous embryos can be recovered at E7.5 (7% vs expected 25%, n=43)
• in vitro, blastocysts hatch from the zona pellucida and form fairly normal outgrowth colonies after 3 days in culture
