Trit1tm1.1(KOMP)Vlcg/Trit1tm1.1(KOMP)Vlcg mice exhibit embryonic lethality, with fewer than expected number of embryos at E7.5 and no embryos at E9.5. Though an egg cyclinder is formed, no morphological node or other hallmarks typical of E7.5 are present.

• although normal blastocysts are present in expected Mendelian ratios at E3.5, very few homozygous embryos can be recovered at E7.5 (7% vs expected 25%, n=43)
• in vitro, blastocysts hatch from the zona pellucida and form fairly normal outgrowth colonies after 3 days in culture
• no homozygous embryos are identified at E9.5

• although an egg cylinder has formed, no morphological node or other hallmarks typical of gastrulating embryos are observed at E7.5 (J:279207)
• no head folds are present at E7.5
• no morphological node is present at E7.5
