• males are fertile and exhibit normal ventral prostate morphology and histology with no detectable changes in proliferation or in androgen receptor or DACH-1 expression in the ventral prostate epithelium relative to wild-type controls
• at 7-8 months of age, mutant ovaries display absence of corpora lutea
• no viable preovulatory follicles are observed due to a lack of late follicular maturation
• at 7-8 months of age, many preantral follicles are observed
• at 7-8 months of age, mutant ovaries display more atretic follicles than wild-type ovaries
• however, no significant difference in the number of developing follicles is observed
• at 7-8 months of age, a few early antral follicles are observed and most late antral follicles are atretic
• females are anovulatory
• females are infertile
