Sars1tm1.1(KOMP)Vlcg/Sars1tm1.1(KOMP)Vlcg mice exhibit embryonic lethality, with embryos recovered at E3.5 but not at E7.5. Embryos at E3.5 appear as dying morulas. Morulas in vitro fail to hatch from the zona pellucida with apparent cell death, never reaching a morphological blastocyst stage.
• homozygous embryos are recovered at lower Mendelian ratios at E3.5 (11% versus expected 25%, n=45) and appear to arrest/die prior to blastocyst formation; no embryos or excess resorption sites are observed at E7.5

• in vitro, embryos fail to hatch and never reach a morphological blastocyst stage after 3 days in culture
