cardiovascular system
• cardiac myocyte length/width ration is reduced in 6 month old mice, however total cardiac myocyte area is similar to control
• cardiac myocytes are thicker and shorter as compared to controls
• increase in septal thickness at 2, 4, and 6 months of age
• left ventricular chamber dimension during diastole is smaller than controls
• small increase in cardiac contractility at baseline
• faster relaxation times
• following AngII/PE or TAC surgery, cardiac functional performance is maintained better than controls
• following two weeks of stimulation, myocytes are thicker without a matching increase in length
• following I/R injury, thickness in septal wall and LV free wall is maintained; cardiac ventricular performance is similar to sham surgical controls

homeostasis/metabolism

muscle
• cardiac myocyte length/width ration is reduced in 6 month old mice, however total cardiac myocyte area is similar to control
