mortality/aging
• mice die at around 43 days of age and none are viable past 47 days of age

cardiovascular system
• hearts are enlarged with dilated cardiac chambers and atria containing laminar thrombus
• heart weight to body weight ratio is increased in 6 week old mice
• dilation of cardiac chambers and an increase in ventricular dimension indicates dilated cardiomyopathy
• however, no cardiomyocyte dropout or myocardial fibrosis is seen and no apoptosis in ventricular cardiomyocytes
• left ventricular fractional shortening is reduced in 6 week old mice
• however, left ventricular thickness is similar to controls
• end-systolic dimension and end-diastolic dimension, measured by echocardiography, are increased in 6 week old mice

muscle
• dilation of cardiac chambers and an increase in ventricular dimension indicates dilated cardiomyopathy
