• mice show an aggravated cardiac hypertrophic response to pressure overload induced by chronic aortic banding as evidenced by an increase in cardiomyocyte size and higher ratios of heart weight/body weight, heart weight/tibia length, and lung weight/body weight, increase in cardiac hypertrophy markers, impaired cardiac structure and function and increase in cardiac fibrotic response
• however, under basal conditions, mice are healthy and show no cardiac morphological or pathological abnormalities
