Mouse lines carrying:
Lpin3tm1Reue mutation (0 available); any Lpin3 mutation (52 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
growth/size/body
• males exhibit lowered body weight while females show a trend toward lower body weight
• however, fat pad size is not altered

homeostasis/metabolism
N
• mice exhibit normal blood chemistry, showing normal levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, albumin, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, blood urea nitrogen, inorganic phosphorus, creatine kinase, cholesterol, total protein, glucose, and amylase
• mice retain 40-80% of wild-type triacylglycerol levels in adipose tissue indicating a small decrease in levels
• phosphatidate phosphatase enzyme activity is reduced by 85% in adipose tissue
• phosphatidate phosphatase enzyme activity is also reduced in the spleen, kidney and liver

Mouse lines carrying:
Lpin3tm1Reue mutation (0 available); any Lpin3 mutation (52 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
growth/size/body
• at 14-16 months of age, mice have slightly reduced body weights, however tissue weights are normal
• however, body weight and tissue weight on a chow diet is normal in younger mice, no differences are seen on a high-fat diet, and plasma lipid levels are normal at 14-16 months of age

adipose tissue
• a smaller proportion of stromal vascular cells from fat pads accumulate lipid droplets and the droplets are smaller and expression of genes that promote adipogenesis is attenuated in adipocytes, indicating reduced capacity for adipocyte development
• primary preadipocytes exhibit impaired adipocyte differentiation in vitro

cellular
• primary preadipocytes exhibit impaired adipocyte differentiation in vitro

Lpin3tm1Reue mutation (0 available); any Lpin3 mutation (52 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
growth/size/body
• decrease in body weight due to less adipose tissue, however liver, kidney, heart, and spleen weights are normal

liver/biliary system

adipose tissue
• fat pad sizes are smaller than in single Lpin1fld homozygotes

homeostasis/metabolism
N
• mice exhibit normal blood chemistry, showing normal levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, albumin, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, blood urea nitrogen, inorganic phosphorus, creatine kinase, cholesterol, total protein, glucose, and amylase
• triacylglycerol levels are undetectable within adipose tissue and are lower in spleen, kidney, and liver
• phosphatidate phosphatase enzyme activity is reduced in adipose tissue, spleen kidney, liver, heart, skeletal muscle, brain, and lung
