• mammary glands show a reduction in lipid droplets and alveolar tissues
• mammary glands of 6 and 10 week old mice show precocious alveolar differentiation, resembling glands in early pregnancy
• mice exhibit a smaller population of CD24+CD29high mammary stem cells
• size of the Lgr5+ stem cell subpopulation is reduced in mammary glands
• the number of proliferating cells is decreased in alveoli at 14.5 dpc
• mammary glands at mid-pregnancy (E14.5) show enhanced alveogenesis, presented as overt luminal feature and an increased number of intracellular lipid droplets and higher beta-casein expression
