N normal phenotype

Tbcdem1(IMPC)Bay/Tbcdem1(IMPC)Bay mice exhibit embryonic lethality, with embryos recovered at E3.5 as blastocysts but not at E7.5. Blastocysts in vitro hatch from the zona pellucida and form normal outgrowths with apparent inner cell mass and trophectoderm/primitive endoderm cells.

mortality/aging
• blastocysts are recovered at E3.5 (16% versus expected 25%, n=32); no homozygous embryos are recovered at E7.5 but excess resorption sites suggest that embryos elicit a decidual response in vivo
• in vitro, blastocysts hatch from the zona pellucida and form normal outgrowths with apparent inner cell mass (ICM) and trophectoderm (TE) and primitive endoderm (PrE) cells after 3 days in culture
