Mir140em1Tkob mutation (0 available); any Mir140 mutation (3 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
growth/size/body
• shorter nose
• mice are smaller at P28

skeleton
• mice show mildly flat vertebral bodies
• mice show delayed cartilage maturation of the larynx, trachea, and anterior ribs
• basal skull growth plate is wider due to increased length of all layers of chondrocytes
• proximal tibial growth plates show an expansion of the resting zone
• severely decreased epiphyseal mineralization
• however, the proliferation rate of tibial growth plate chondrocytes is not different and apoptosis levels in the growth plate are normal
• mice show delayed secondary ossification of tubular and carpal bones

craniofacial
• shorter nose

respiratory system
