• flattening of the dermal papillae
• complete follicles are rarely seen and rather, round-shaped structures resembling hair bulbs and hair shafts appear mostly separated in the deep and up layers of skin, respectively, suggesting a delay in the maturation of hair follicles
• mice exhibit reduced number of hair follicles, which are scattered or absent along the dermal-epidermal interface
• mice exhibit a simplification of the dermal-epidermal interface with flattening of the dermal papillae
• however, the skin does not show any pathological appearance

• the lamina propria along the crypts/villous axis appear more lax and wider
• the height of the lamina propria is increased
• the small intestine exhibits villi with different length and caliber, club-shaped rather than uniformly cylindrical and the columnar cell layer is more discontinuous
• the basal diameter length of the villous is longer
