vision/eye
• the lens appears to be less transparent in some mice
• however, no other changes in eyes are seen compared to wild-type mice
|
• electron-dense round or oval bodies that are 20-50 nm in diameter are seen in the cytoplasm of lens fibers and in the posterior lens capsule at P10
• electron-dense bodies form clusters containing LOXL1 aggregates in the perinuclear cytoplasm of lens fibers surrounded by a membrane that contains ribosomes indicating aggregation of LOXL1 protein in the rough endoplasmic reticulum
• rough endoplasmic reticulum cisterns in lens fibers are dilated
|
• intraocular pressure is higher in 1 month old mice, but not at 2, 3, 4, or 5 months of age
