cardiovascular system
• on a high fat diet, obese mice fail to show an increase in systolic blood pressure compared to normal chow fed mutant controls, unlike wild-type mice where over 60% of obese mice showed an increase in blood pressure compared to normal diet wild-type controls
• on a normal chow diet, blood pressure is similar to wild-type controls
• weight gain on a high fat diet is similar to diet matched wild-type controls
• almost no force is developed by mesenteric artery segments following incubation with KC activator phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate unlike in wild-type control arteries
• show an inhibited tension force in both the initial and sustained phases following stimulation with 10uM norepinephrine
• while maximal forces induced by GPCR agonists are reduced the dose-response sensitivity is similar to controls
