immune system
• approximately 18% increase in the number of secretory granules and a ~15% decrease in granule size
• decrease in total and secreted levels of histamine and serotonin in IgE-sensitized bone marrow-derived or peritoneum-derived connective-tissue-like mast cells (BMMCs or PCMCs) or IgG-sensitized PCMCs
• however, the ratio of secreted histamine or serotonin to total levels in mast cells is similar indicating that degranulation is not altered

cardiovascular system
• IgE- and IgG-stimulated vascular permeability in the skin are significantly decreased compared to wild-type controls
• transfer of arthritic serum fails to induce increased joint vascular leakage unlike in wild-type controls
• transfer of wild-type mast cells into homozygous null mice restores vascular leakage responses

• in a model of allergic peritonitis, peritoneal lavage fluid contains lower levels of histamine
