• after i.p. injection of chitin, the % of peritoneal exudate cells (PECs) made up of eosinophils as well as total eosinophil cell number are lower than those in heterozygous mice, suggesting impaired eosinophil cell infiltration
• after intranasal administration of house dust mites (HDMs) to induce allergic airway inflammation, mice exhibit a lower infiltration of eosinophils in their lungs relative to heterozygous controls, as determined by eosinophil cell % of lung CD45+ immune cells
• immunostaining of Siglec-F (which labels the populations of eosinophils and alveolar macrophages), confirmed reduced eosinophil abundance in the lung tissues after HDM treatment
• in vitro, IL4-stimulated bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) and peritoneal macrophages (PMs) show a significantly lower Arg1 (arginase 1) expression both at the mRNA and protein level than wild-type macrophages
• after intranasal administration of HDMs, mice exhibit lower Il13 mRNA levels in their lungs relative to heterozygous controls
• after intranasal administration of HDMs, mice exhibit lower Il4 mRNA levels in their lungs relative to heterozygous controls
