behavior/neurological
• with CNGA2 absent from type B olfactory sensory neurons, homozygotes fail to respond to NaHS by the usual dose-dependent avoidance behavior or the increased stress-induced self-grooming that occurs in controls, but they do respond with normal avoidance to hypoxia. They also fail to increase serum adrenocorticotropic hormone levels in response to NaHS, but do respond to the non-olfactory stressor of a forced swim test with increased serum adrenocorticotropic hormone levels, confirming the non-response to NaHS.
