Banf1em1(IMPC)J/Banf1em1(IMPC)J mice exhibit embryonic lethality, with embryos recovered at E3.5 as blastocysts but not at E7.5. Blastocysts in vitro fail to hatch from the zona pellucida.

mortality/aging
• blastocysts are recovered at E3.5 (11% versus expected 25%, n=50); no homozygous embryos are recovered at E7.5
• however, excess resorption sites suggest that embryos elicit a decidual response in vivo
