liver/biliary system
• livers show increased prominence of the vascular subcapsular markings, with appearance of a punctate pattern rather than a meshwork vascular pattern, in mice older than 6 months
• scattered bleeding into necrotic and nonnecrotic liver areas with age
• liver shows a mononuclear chronic inflammatory infiltrate which is nonregionalized and patchy with areas of necrosis
• however, Mallory body formation is not seen, and no differences in white cell, platelet, or red blood cell counts or other serum chemistry are seen
• collagenase liver perfusion of young mice at an early stage when inflammation and necrosis are mild results in significant cell death indicating hepatocyte fragility
• necrosis and bleeding into necrotic and nonnecrotic areas becomes highly prominent with age

homeostasis/metabolism
• elevation in serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase
• elevation in serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase

cardiovascular system
• livers show increased prominence of the vascular subcapsular markings, with appearance of a punctate pattern rather than a meshwork vascular pattern, in mice older than 6 months
• scattered bleeding into necrotic and nonnecrotic liver areas with age

immune system
• liver shows a mononuclear chronic inflammatory infiltrate which is nonregionalized and patchy with areas of necrosis
• however, Mallory body formation is not seen, and no differences in white cell, platelet, or red blood cell counts or other serum chemistry are seen
