• expression analysis indicates loss of germ cell fate following doxycycline treatment
• following doxycycline treatment at E7.5, primordial germ cell (PGC) numbers are slightly reduced at E9.5
• following doxycycline treatment at E7.5, by E10.5 very few PGCs are found in the gut tube and genital ridges
• following doxycycline treatment at E7.5, primordial germ cells are motionless in time lapsed images between E9.5 and E10.5
• following doxycycline treatment at E7.5, PGCs from E10.5 embryos show a 2-fold increase in the percentage of cells in the G1 phase and marked reduction in the number of cells in the S phase
