mortality/aging
• die immediately after birth

nervous system
• abnormal migration of striatal cells from the dorsal to the ventral striatum
• significant reductions in markers of striatonigral neurons at E18.5
• reduction of striatonigral axons along the projection pathway from the diencephalon and telencephalic boundaries through the cerebral peduncles to the substantia nigra
• however, proliferation and apotosis in the striatum analage and striatum are similar to controls
• abnormal redistribution of cells from the dorsal to the ventral striatum
• smaller at E18.5
• Er81+ cells are present in prominent clusters in wild-type mice but are decreased in number and scattered in the dorsal striatum in null mice
• abnormalities are detected at E13.5
• larger at E18.5
• increase in the number of Er81+ cells
• Er81+ cells are present in prominent clusters in wild-type mice but are scattered in the dorsal striatum in null mice

cellular
• abnormal migration of striatal cells from the dorsal to the ventral striatum
