• mice exhibit normal mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) and heart rate under normal conditions
• at P6, isolectin B4 angiography shows a reduction in the density of the vascular network with a decreased number of branches in the retina
• at P6, retinal blood vessels extend few filopodia at the vascular front where most endothelial tip cells are located
• overall, retinal vessels show 22% less endothelial cell (EC) coverage, 26% less branching points, and 35% fewer tip cells number than wild-type vessels
• after i.v. injection of lysophosphatidic acid (18:1-LPA), mice show a normal LPA-induced transient hypertensive response at a low dosage of LPA (0.014 mg/kg) but significantly lower responses induced by higher LPA dosages
• moreover, mice show significantly lower responses to both phenylephrine and norepinephrine, suggesting impaired vasoactivity
