• migration length of vagal neural crest cell explants from E9 embryos on fibronectin-coated plates is reduced
• however, no difference in the migration of trunk neural crest cells in culture is seen

digestive/alimentary system
• small intestine shows disorganized structure with rudimentary outer muscle layer at P9
• the proximal small intestine at P12.5 shows reduced thickness of the muscularis externa indicating impaired development of the intestinal muscularis propria
• intestinal villi show a reduced number of nerve fibers per villi
• however, no difference in the muscle fiber counts per villi is seen
• mice show disorganization of the small intestinal villi, with impaired alignment of neurons with the smooth muscle cells in the developing intestinal villi indicating disorganized innervation of the enteric villi

• development of the enteric nervous system in the small intestine is impaired
• intestinal villi show a reduced number of nerve fibers per villi
