• females injected with strongly immunogenic breast adenocarcinoma E0771 tumor cells and colon carcinoma MC38 tumor cells exhibit slower tumor growth than in wild-type mice
• however, growth rate of injected weakly immunogenic melanoma B16F10 and bladder carcinoma MB49 tumor cells are not changed from that seen in wild-type mice
• mice exhibit growth suppression of B16F10 tumors expressing the immunogenic model antigen ovalbumin but not B16F10 tumors
• wild-type mice engrafted with knock-out bone marrow cells show suppressed growth of strongly immunogenic MC38 tumors compared to wild-type mice engrafted with wild-type bone marrow cells
• mice treated with antibody to deplete CD8+ T cells show no change in tumor growth rate of injected MC38 tumor cells indicating that CD8+ T cells are essential for suppressing tumor growth

• the tumor immune microenvironment of mice transplanted with E0771 tumor cells exhibits more infiltration of IFN-gamma+ and granzyme B+ CD8+ T cells compared to wild-type cells
• however, no difference in CD4+ T cell infiltration is seen no changes in the infiltration of myeloid-derived suppressor cells, macrophages, NK cells, or dendritic cells are seen
• the tumor immune microenvironment of mice transplanted with E0771 tumor cells shows decreased infiltration of regulatory T cells
• mice transplanted with E0771 tumor cells exhibit enhanced infiltration and cytotoxic activity of CD8+ T cells in the tumor immune microenvironment
