reproductive system
• infertile males have enlarged testes
• about 50% of males at 6 - 12 months of age are infertile

neoplasm
• about 15% of enlarged ducts in virgin females are fibroadenomas
• about 5-10% of hyperplastic ducts in females after 1 pregnancy, 3 weeks of lactation and 8 weeks of involution appear similar to fibroadenomas
• about 25 % of virgin transgenic females exposed to 0.5 ug of DMBA at 56 days of age develop palpable low-grade mammary tumors and all DMBA exposed transgenic females have microscopic evidence of mammary tumor formation or neoplastic progression unlike wild type females

homeostasis/metabolism
• transgenic males have significantly increased serum estradiol levels compared to wild-type males
• about 25 % of virgin transgenic females exposed to 0.5 ug of DMBA at 56 days of age develop palpable low-grade mammary tumors and all DMBA exposed transgenic females have microscopic evidence of mammary tumor formation or neoplastic progression unlike wild type females

endocrine/exocrine glands
• in virgin females 40% of ducts are enlarged and 65% of these have hyperplastic lesions while 20% have dysplatic lesions
• after 1 pregnancy, 3 weeks of lactation and 8 weeks of involution about 70-80% of ducts and glands are hyperplastic with numerous terminal ducts seen, in addition 15% show ductal and lobular dysplasia
• ductal hyperplasia is still evident after 5 months of involution
• about 15% of enlarged ducts in virgin females are fibroadenomas
• about 5-10% of hyperplastic ducts in females after 1 pregnancy, 3 weeks of lactation and 8 weeks of involution appear similar to fibroadenomas
• after 1 pregnancy, 3 weeks of lactation and 8 weeks of involution about 70-80% of ducts and glands are hyperplastic with abundant alveolar glands seen, in addition 15% show ductal and lobular dysplasia (J:34063)
• transgenic males display mammary hyperplasia and dysplasia by as early as 3 months of age (J:78693)
• infertile males have enlarged testes

integument
• in virgin females 40% of ducts are enlarged and 65% of these have hyperplastic lesions while 20% have dysplatic lesions
• after 1 pregnancy, 3 weeks of lactation and 8 weeks of involution about 70-80% of ducts and glands are hyperplastic with numerous terminal ducts seen, in addition 15% show ductal and lobular dysplasia
• ductal hyperplasia is still evident after 5 months of involution
