N normal phenotype
behavior/neurological
• at 5 and 11 months of age, homozygotes show an impaired ability to remove a strip of adhesive tape from their forehead; however no difference is seen in performance in the rotarod test
• at 11 months of age, locomotor and rearing activities are reduced in the open field test
• at 11 months of age, locomotor and rearing activities are reduced in the open field test

homeostasis/metabolism
• at 4 months of age stimulated dopamine release is increased and dopamine uptake is faster in the dorsal caudate-putamen; however, no difference in dopamine release or uptakes is seen in the ventral caudate putamen
• at 6 and 11 months of age dopamine levels are increased in the caudate-putamen; however the number of dopaminergic neurons is normal and no obvious signs of neuropathology are seen
