N normal phenotype
endocrine/exocrine glands
• female specific phenotype, extensive mammary epithelial hyperplasias eventually developed mammary tumors with 100% penetrance
• compared to transgenic mice expressing wild-type plyomavirus middle T antigen, there was a significant delay in induction of tumors
• the tumors appeared to be less differentiated than tumors expressing wild-type plyomavirus middle T antigen or mutant plyomavirus middle T antigen with Y to F mutation at position 250
• female specific phenotype, global induction of extremely cystic and dilated mammary epithelial hyperplasia without defined alveolar structures in 12-week-old virgin animals
• the mammary epithelium were incapable of nursing
• mammary epithelial hyperplasias displayed extensive apoptotic cell death
