immune system
• cellularity in the peritoneal cavity is increased 50- to 100- fold compared to controls due to presence of large B1b B-cell population
• spleens are enlarged 1.5-fold compared to controls in mice under 1 year of age
• spleen weight increases to 20-fold or higher than controls after the onset of leukemia
• an abnormal CD5+ CD11b+ population is found in all transgenic mice
• this B cell population makes up 44% of cells in the peritoneal cavity of 2-month old mice, 8.6% of splenocytes by 4 months of age, 43% of bone marrow cells by 8 months of age
• increased numbers of B cells are found in the marginal zone with a CD21loCD5+ phenotype

neoplasm
• clonality of cells is observed in the CD5+ B cell population in mice over 7 months of age
• these cells have low proliferative activity, which is a characteristic of leukemia cells
• mice 13-18 months of age become visibly ill, have enlarged liver, spleens, and lymph nodes, and have white blood cell counts that are 50-fold higher than normal
• blood of these older mice contain large lymphoid cells, smeared cells, and lymphocytes with clumped nuclear chromatin

digestive/alimentary system
• cellularity in the peritoneal cavity is increased 50- to 100- fold compared to controls due to presence of large B1b B-cell population

liver/biliary system
• livers are enlarged after the onset of leukemia

hematopoietic system
• spleens are enlarged 1.5-fold compared to controls in mice under 1 year of age
• spleen weight increases to 20-fold or higher than controls after the onset of leukemia

growth/size/body
• livers are enlarged after the onset of leukemia
• spleens are enlarged 1.5-fold compared to controls in mice under 1 year of age
• spleen weight increases to 20-fold or higher than controls after the onset of leukemia
