mortality/aging
• all mice infected with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) die within 7 days compared with 21% of wild-type mice at 7 to 10 days
• however, mice exhibit normal mortality following infection with encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) and are as susceptible as wild-type mice to intracranial VSV infection

immune system
• within 24 hours of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), mice develop neurological signs including ataxia, hind limb paralysis and hyper-excitability and increased brain viral titer due to enhanced viral replication compared with wild-type mice
• however, mice exhibit normal VSV entry into the olfactory bulb and other organs are normally susceptible to VSV infection
• all mice infected with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) die within 7 days compared with 21% of wild-type mice at 7 to 10 days
• however, mice exhibit normal mortality following infection with encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) and are as susceptible as wild-type mice to intracranial VSV infection

behavior/neurological
• in mice infected with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)
• hyper-excitability in mice infected with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)
