neoplasm
• about 14% of females and 13% of males at 6-12 months of age develop spontaneous intradermal tumors with features resembling those of various human cutaneous adnexal tumors with high incidence
• all tumors are in the subcutaneous axilla, inguinal region, or back
• almost all tumors exhibit partial differentiation into sweat gland units
• all tumors form intradermal masses that usually resemble human cylindroma or spiradenoma and which are characterized by mosaic-like tumor nests of basaloid cells
• some tumors partially exhibit apocrine, follicular, and sebaceous differentiation
• some tumors exhibit a partial trichoepithelioma morphology
• several tumors resemble human adenoid cystic carcinoma with tubular and cribriform patterns
• in the cutaneous adnexal tumors, adenoid cystic carcinoma-like malignant tumors and malignant tumors with features of salivary-duct type adenocarcinoma are seen
