mortality/aging
• mice display higher mortality, with mice dying starting after 5 weeks of age and showing about 70% survival at 30 weeks of age

cardiovascular system
• cardiomyocytes are enlarged and cardiomyocyte nuclei are enlarged
• mice develop enlarged hearts by 13 weeks of age
• cardiomyocytes are enlarged and expression of hypertrophic marker genes are elevated
• ventricular walls are only moderately thicker at 10 weeks of age
• dilated hearts show mild fibrosis
• mice develop dilated cardiomyopathy by 13 weeks of age
• however, hearts are normal at 4-8 weeks of age
• mice exhibit symptoms indicative of congestive heart failure

homeostasis/metabolism
• atria frequently contain organized thrombi
• in severe cases, mice develop edema

muscle
