cardiovascular system
• after AV node ablation, hearts show higher intrinsic ventricular heart rates
• application of 2 consecutive premature beats via programmed electrical stimulation induces monomorphic and polymorphic ventricular tachyarrhythmias
• isoproterenol infusion induces monomorphic ventricular tachyarrhythmias in mutants while it only increases the heart rate with no arrhythmias in wild-type mice
• the effective refractory period is decreased in hearts
• corrected QT interval is prolonged indicating prolonged repolarization
• monocytes show slower fast sodium current inactivation, enhanced late sodium current, increased intracellular sodium concentration, enhanced accumulation of intermediate sodium current inactivation, slower recovery from inactivation and a shift of steady-state inactivation of sodium channels to more negative membrane potential

• at lower pacing frequencies, monophasic action potential duration is prolonged in hearts
• however, at high pacing frequencies, monophasic action potential duration is normal
