behavior/neurological
• mice exhibit increased latency to reach the hidden platform in the Morris water maze
• mice show an increase in distance traveled before reaching the hidden platform during training on the Morris water maze
• mice spend more time in the periphery or thigmotaxis zone of the Morris water maze
• mice show no preference for the target quadrant during the probe test for spatial memory 24 hours following the final training session
• mice show a decrease in the number of marbles buried in the marble-burying task
• however, mice spend similar time in the central, anxiogenic region of the open field as wild-type mice, show a similar latency to enter the light chamber in the dark/light test, and spend similar time in the light and dark chambers, indicating normal anxiety-related responses in these tests, and exhibit normal acoustic startle response and prepulse inhibition
• mice show increased time spend grooming
• females show a decreased latency to fall from the rotarod
• females show less rearing while males only show a trend toward less rearing
• mice show a decrease in approach of a novel, caged social target in the caged conspecific test
• in the genotype and sex-matched social interaction test, mice show a reduction in social interaction time and a decrease in number of social bouts
• in the third trial of the 3-chamber test of sociability, mice do not show a preference for the social novelty
• mice show deficits in social recognition in the social interaction with juvenile test of social memory

nervous system
• mice exhibit impaired hippocampal long-term plasticity
• however, mice show no differences from wild-type mice in basal synaptic transmission and short-term plasticity at hippocampal synapses
• mice exhibit altered striatal glutamatergic synaptic transmission as indicated by a decreased NMDAR/AMPAR ratio in dorsal striatum
• mice exhibit decreased hippocampal long-term potentiation
• however, mGluR-dependent long-term depression is normal
