Glossary Term | LOD score |
Definition | A statistical estimate of whether two loci are likely to lie near each other on a chromosome and are therefore likely to be inherited together. Lod stands for "log of the odds ratio." In this case, the odds ratio is the likelihood that two markers are linked divided by the likelihood that they are not linked. A LOD score of three or more is generally taken to indicate that the two loci are close. |
