Glossary Term Western Blot
Definition An assay that detects specific proteins within a protein mixture. Samples are subjected to electrophoresis on a slab gel. A replica of the gel is then made on a membrane by electrophoretic transfer. Specific proteins are then detected on the membrane using antibody staining.
