Mice homozygous for Dst^dt can first be recognized at 7 to 10 days of age by clasping of the hindlimbs when the mice are lifted by the tail. Shown here, homozygous mice exhibit an increasing loss of coordination with alternating hyperextension and hyperflexion of the limbs, but no obvious paralysis.
