This recessive and fully penetrant mutation causes rc/rc mice to have a scruffy coat appearance with gradual hair loss that becomes extensive. Thinning of fur can be seen by 2 weeks of age as the hair becomes brittle, clumpy and oily in appearance. Shown here are various stages of hirloss.
