Caption Compared with the +/Y control (left) the temporal bone surrounding the cochlea of the PhexHyp-Duk (right) is thickened with many areas of non-mineralization (arrows with stars). There is degeneration of the organ of Corti and spiral ganglion cells, especially in the apical turn (arrows). Endolymph volume is greater in the cochlea, there is an increased scala media, diminished scala vestibule as well as displacement of Reissner's membrane.
