Caption | Hemisected stomach of the Runx3tm1Yg/Runx3tm1Yg (B) compared with the +/+ wild-type (A) show contraction and thickening of the glandular portion. H&E stained sections of the gastric wall (C & D) reveal mucosal hyperplasia and hyalinosis in the Runx3tm1Yg/Runx3tm1Yg. IHC with anti-YM1/2 proteins demonstrates positive globular material within the cytoplasm of tall columnar epithelial cells (E). High magnification of the area in D shows accumulation of eosinophilic retangular cystalline material with the lumen of hyperplastic glands (F). Cystic dilation and collapse of abnormal musosa into subadjacent layers (G *indicates the muscularis mucosa, where 5 dilated glands are shown, two of which are indicated by h). Four glands on the left are above the tunica muscularis. One gland reaches but does not invade the serosa (between the two arrows). Epithelial lining of the cysts show in insert. A focus of mucosal dysplasia (H), in the gland at the center of the field is cellular atypia in the form of loss of orderly stratification, nuclear crowding and increased nuclear/cytoplasmic ratio. Well differentiated gl;ands are shown at the bottom right and left of the field. Abbreviations: e: Esophagus; f: forestomach, g: glandular stomach; p: pylorus; tm: Tunica muscularis. Magnification: C & D: X10; E: X40; F: X20; G: X2; Insert X20; H: X20 | ||||
