Phenotype Image Detail
Image
Caption Melanosomes in the Lystbg-grey/Lystbg-grey mice (B & D) are larger and irregularly shaped compared to the +/+ wild-type (A & C) in hair follicle-associated melanocytes (arrows in A & B) and choroid melanocytes (long arrows in C & D). In comparison with the insert in (A) of the +/+ wild-type mouse, the insert in (B) of the Lystbg-grey/Lystbg-grey mouse shows secretory granules in dermal mase cells are larger and less numerous. In the neural tube derived pigment epithelium of the retina there are altered melanosomes (arrows in C & D). The electron microscopic image (E) reveals fusion of melanosomes of different maturity (white arrows) in melanocytes of the iris in the Lystbg-grey/Lystbg-grey. Abbreviations: DP: dermal papilla; PPR: pars pigmentosa retinae. Scalebars: A-D 25um; inserts 4um; E 800 um
