Caption | In +/+ wild-type mice at e20, Pou4f1 immunoreactive neurons are present in the superior colliculus, dorsal central grey, red nucleus and the interpeduncular nucleus (A); Pou4f2 immunoreactive neurons are present in the superior colliculus, dorsal central grey and the interpeduncular nucleus (C). In Pou4f1tm1Nat/Pou4f1tm1Nat mice, Pou4f1 immunoreactivity is absent (B), and Pou4f2 immunoreactivity is unchanged (D). By cresyl violet staining, the large neurons of the red nucleus are absent (E & F) (arrows in F indicate expected location of the red nucleus).
