Aggregates are formed in the homozygous or heterozygous mutant's Henle layer that is composed of intermediate filaments that form a whorl. Linear portions of intermediate filaments are found only at the periphery of aggregates (b), in the vicinity of desmonsomes (black arrow in b) and associated with trichohyalin granula (white arrow in a).
