Methacrylate-embedded eye sections from 11 week old wild-type (A) and Cryaa^tm1Wawr/Cryaa^tm1Wawr (B) sibling mice stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Weakly staining spherical bodies were seen in the nuclear and inner cortical areas of the homozygous mouse lens; the tip of the arrow in B marks the right boundary of the area containing the spherical bodies. Transmission electron micrographs of Cryaa^tm1Wawr/Cryaa⁺ (C) and Cryaa^tm1Wawr/Cryaa^tm1Wawr (D) lens inner cortex of 38 week old sibling mice.
