Low-magnification view of hematoxylin-eosin stained cross section of the brain of a 7 week old inad/inad mouse (top) and control mouse (bottom). Note the gross enlargement of the third ventricle (IIIV) and the lateral ventricle (LV) in the homozygous mouse. Hippocampus (hip) was clearly observed in the control mouse but is hardly distinguishable in the homozygous mouse due to its thinness and caudal displacement caused by the ventricular enlargement.
