Caption | Whole mount PECAM staining of wild type (A) and Mapk7tm1Kda/Mapk7tm1Kda (B) E9.5 embryos revealed defects in vascular maturation/angiogenesis in homozygous mice. Intersomitic vessels (wild type, Lower right insert in A; mutant, Lower right insert in B) appeared normal in homozygous embryos. However, the angiogenic pruning and remodeling that was present in the head region of wild type embryos (Upper right insert in A) was absent in homozygous embryos (Upper right insert in B). Note the disorganized vasculature and lack of complex branching in the mutant embryos. C: Dorsal aorta, wild type. D: Branchial artery, wild type. E: Dorsal aorta, mutant. F: Branchial artery, mutant. | ||||
