Caption | Histological sections of male (A & B) and female (C & D) gonads are shown, comparing the gonads of wild type (A & C) and Fanclgcd/Fanclgcd mice (B & D). The homozygous mouse testis (B) contained groups of normal (N) and abnormal (A) seminferous tubules. The abnormal seminiferous tubules contained only large, vacuolated Sertoli cells. The homozygous mouse ovary (D) is much smaller than the normal ovary (C) and is relatively inactive, containing no developing follicles (F) and only a few, old corpora lutea (C). Also, a well-delineated hemorrhagic cyst is present in the upper-right quadrant of the homozygous ovary (D). | ||||
