C-E: Histological sections of the heart at 13.5 dpc in a wild type mouse (C), and mAb-treated Edn1^tm1Utj/Edn1^tm1Utj mouse (D) and homozygous mutant mouse treated with BQ123 (E). Development of the endocardial cushion (EC) is retarded and the ventricular septum (arrow) is defective in mutant mice. In a BQ123 treated mutant mouse, hypoplasia of the compact zone of the ventricular wall (arrowhead) is also displayed.
