Caption | Light microscopy analyses of vertebral bodies (top), calvarium (center), and nasal section (bottom) were performed on Col1a1tm1.1Jcm/Col1a1+ (Brt1IV) or wild type (WT) mice at 2 months of age. Sections were stained with Masson's Trichrome. The vertebral bodies appeared disorganized and less mineralized in Col1a1tm1.1Jcm/Col1a1+ than wild type. The calvarium is thinner and less mineralized in the mutants. In the maxilla sections, disorganized islands of bone formation are evident in the mutant mice compared with the well organized bone tissue present in the wild type littermates. The pulp cavity of the mutant molars is necrotic with acute inflammation and bacterial infections. | ||||
