Caption | Electron micrographs of parietal cells. A: Parietal cell from a wild type mouse, with well developed sectetory canaliculus (c), nucleus (N) and many mitochondria. B: In the Atp4atm1Ges/Atp4atm1Ges parietal cell, canaliculi were dilated, and microvilli of the canaliculus (arrowheads) were less abundant, shorter, and more densely stained than in wild type cells. Mutant parietal cells contained a few rounded vesicles (arrows) rather than numerous tubulovesicles and accumulated glycogen (g). C: Mutant parietal cells often contained large mitochondria with concentric cristae. Scale bars: A and B, 5um; C, 1um. | ||||
