Histological skin comparison of wild type and Cyp7a1^tm1Rus/Cyp7a1^tm1Rus mice. The upper panel shows a section of skin from the abdomen of a wild type mouse (14 days old) stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Cells of the stratum corneum (sc), granular layer (gr), spinous layers (sp), basal layer (bl), and dermis (d) are indicated. The lower panel shows a section derived from an age-matched Cyp7a1^tm1Rus/Cyp7a1^tm1Rus mouse. Note the thickened and blistered appearance of the stratum corneum and the overall condensed appearance of the specimen.
