Smooth muscle coverage of aorta in embryos. A: E13.5 S1pr2^tm1Rlp/S1pr2⁺ S1pr3^tm1Rlp/S1pr3^tm1Rlp. B: S1pr2^tm1Rlp/S1pr2^tm1Rlp S1pr3^tm1Rlp/S1pr3^tm1Rlp double null. C: S1pr1^tm1Rlp/S1pr1^tm2Rlp Tg(Tek-cre)1Ywa/? embryos were sectioned transversely at the thoracic level and immunostained with anti-smooth muscle alpha-actin. S1pr2^tm1Rlp/S1pr2⁺ S1pr3^tm1Rlp/S1pr3^tm1Rlp and S1pr2^tm1Rlp/S1pr2^tm1Rlp S1pr3^tm1Rlp/S1pr3^tm1Rlp aortae were covered normally by vascular smooth muscle cells (brackets in panels A and B). However, smooth muscle cell coverage was discontinuous around the aorta in the S1pr1^tm1Rlp/S1pr1^tm2Rlp Tg(Tek-cre)1Ywa/? embryo (arrows in panel C). Scale bars, 50um.
